Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Riset Kefarmasian Indonesia (JRKI)
Jurnal Riset Kefarmasian Indonesia (JRKI) is committed to upholding the originality of scientific work and maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. This policy is based on the guidelines and ethical principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the unauthorized or unacknowledged use of another person's ideas, data, words, tables, figures, or intellectual work without appropriate acknowledgment and citation.
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying part or all of another person's published or unpublished work without proper acknowledgment or citation.
-
Improper Paraphrasing: Rewriting or paraphrasing another author's work without appropriately citing the original source.
-
Unauthorized Use of Data or Figures: Using research data, tables, images, illustrations, or other intellectual materials without the necessary permission and attribution.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing previously published material from one's own work without proper citation or acknowledgment.
-
Duplicate or Redundant Publication: Submitting the same or substantially overlapping manuscripts to more than one journal simultaneously or publishing substantially similar research without appropriate disclosure.
2. Originality Standards
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Riset Kefarmasian Indonesia (JRKI) must meet the following originality requirements:
-
The manuscript must represent the authors' original scientific work.
-
The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
-
All quotations, citations, and references must be properly acknowledged and formatted according to the American Medical Association (AMA) 11th Edition citation style.
By submitting a manuscript to JRKI, authors confirm that their work is original, complies with the journal's publication ethics standards, and that they have read and understood this Plagiarism Policy.
3. Similarity Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JRKI undergo similarity screening using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate [specify the software used by JRKI], before proceeding to the peer review stage.
The manuscript must have an overall similarity index of less than 30% [subject to confirmation under JRKI's official policy], excluding the reference list.
Manuscripts exceeding the permitted similarity threshold will be returned to the authors for revision and resubmission, accompanied by an updated similarity report.
If the revised manuscript continues to exceed the permitted similarity threshold after resubmission, the manuscript will be rejected.
Similarity screening serves as an initial assessment tool. The editorial team will also consider the nature, extent, and context of textual similarities when evaluating potential plagiarism.
4. Levels of Plagiarism and Corrective Actions
JRKI classifies plagiarism violations into three levels according to their nature, extent, and severity.
| Violation Level | Examples | Corrective Actions |
|---|---|---|
| Minor | Limited textual similarity, citation errors, or minor textual overlap in the Methods section. | The manuscript will be returned to the authors for correction and revision. |
| Moderate | Self-plagiarism or unauthorized copying of certain sections of a manuscript. | The manuscript will be rejected. Authors may submit a revised manuscript after substantial revision. |
| Severe | Extensive copying, plagiarism of another person's work, or duplicate publication. | The manuscript will be rejected. Authors may receive a formal written warning, may be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to JRKI, and their affiliated institutions may be notified. |
The editorial team will evaluate each suspected violation based on the available evidence and the principles of fairness, transparency, and publication ethics.
5. Plagiarism Identified After Publication
If plagiarism is identified in an article that has already been published, JRKI will conduct an investigation in accordance with the guidelines and procedures established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, corrective actions may include:
-
Erratum or Correction: Publication of a formal correction when the identified issue can be appropriately addressed without invalidating the scientific integrity of the article.
-
Expression of Concern: Publication of an editorial notice when serious concerns regarding the originality or integrity of an article remain unresolved.
-
Retraction: Formal withdrawal of a published article when substantial plagiarism or other serious violations of publication ethics have been confirmed.
JRKI may notify the authors and their affiliated institutions of the investigation findings and any resulting editorial decisions.
All corrective actions will be implemented in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidelines.
6. Authors' Responsibilities
Authors bear full responsibility for ensuring the originality, authenticity, accuracy, and academic integrity of their submitted manuscripts.
Authors must ensure that all materials obtained from other sources are properly cited and acknowledged in accordance with the journal's referencing requirements.
In manuscripts involving multiple authors, all listed authors share responsibility for complying with the journal's plagiarism policy and may be subject to the same sanctions if a violation is confirmed.
All authors are expected to carefully review the manuscript before submission to ensure that it does not contain plagiarism, unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted materials, or improperly acknowledged sources.
Jurnal Riset Kefarmasian Indonesia (JRKI) is committed to promoting responsible scientific publishing and maintaining the credibility, originality, and integrity of research disseminated through the journal.
