Abstract

Background:Flooding is one of the most common natural disasters in Indonesia, affecting the physical, psychological, social, and economic well-being of communities. Nogosari I Hamlet, located in Wukirsari Village, Imogiri District, is a flood-prone area during the rainy season, requiring residents to maintain adequate levels of disaster preparedness. One factor that contributes to disaster preparedness is resilience, which refers to the ability of individuals and communities to withstand, adapt to, and recover from the impacts of disasters. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between resilience and flood disaster preparedness among community members in Nogosari I Hamlet, Wukirsari Village,Imogiri District. Method:This quantitative study employed a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 150 community members, from which 85 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using resilience and flood disaster preparedness questionnaires. Statistical analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Result: The results of the Spearman Rank test revealed a significant relationship between resilience and flood disaster preparedness (p-value = 0.000, p < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of 0.606, indicating a positive and moderately strong relationship. Of the 85 respondents, 65 (76.5%) demonstrated a high level of resilience, while 56 (69.4%) exhibited a high level of flood disaster preparedness. Conclusion: There is a significant positive relationship between resilience and flood disaster preparedness among community members in Nogosari I Hamlet, Wukirsari Village, Imogiri District. Higher levels of community resilience are associated with better preparedness for flood disasters. Recommendation: Future studies are encouraged to incorporate additional variables related to resilience and disaster preparedness, such associal support and knowledge, and to employ different research methods to obtain more comprehensive findings.
